Abstract

Migration is a process of change. There has been rapid but unplanned urbanization in cities whose population has rapidly increased with migration. The rapid increase of population in cities, development, industrialization and the transition from agriculture to manpower have increased the migration between regions and caused the cities to reach an unprecedented density. Antalya, where 17,256 people lived in 1927, became a metropolitan city with a population of 2,426,347 in 2018. Antalya, with the tourism incentives made in the 1980s, has reached many tourist facilities, has succeeded in putting its name to the forefront with tourism, and has met the need for labor for tourism services from the other regions. Unlike classical urbanization models, the most important factor in the rapid urbanization of the city is the ’tourism urbanization ti described by Mullins. In this study, the effect of post-1980 tourism on the urbanization of Antalya, the concentration of labor distribution in the tourism field, aims to reveal the effects on the spatial distribution of the city. The population statistics of Antalya after 1980 will be analyzed and the tourism development and incentive plans prepared or put into practice will be examined and the effects on the urbanization of Antalya will be determined.
