Abstract

The notion of recognition for societies is evaluated by the production they have. Apart from the language that distinguishes communities, each community makes a difference with its local and regional diversity. In this context, art and music is one of the determining factors. For centuries, societies that have been influenced by each other are beginning to adopt polyphony in today's world of globalization. The polyphony in music attracted the attention of contemporary Turkish composers hence they composed pieces of music using different kinds of local sounds. Some of these composers contributed to the country’s repertoire with their works for children and piano beginners. This study comprises the analysis of thirteen first level songs. As a result, the equivalent repertoire in Classical Western Music was evaluated and the great contribution of contemporary Turkish composers to the music literature/litterateur was once again understood.
