One of the archetypes in this heritage is the archetype of child. The archetype of child, that symbolizes regeneration and rebirth, is the eternal child/puer aeternus archetype that does not want to grow up and takes refuge in the love of the mother. Mai and Siyah is the turning point of Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil’s who is one of the leading novelists in Turkish literature, writing activities. Ahmet Cemil who was the protagonist of the novel draws attention with his closeness to the eternal child/puer aeternus archetype. In this study, the characteristics of the eternal child/puer aeternus archetype were given and the archetypal features of the novel are sampled.
