Abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between STEM attitudes and science self-efficacy perceptions of middle school students and STEM career interest. The target population of the study involved all the middle school students in Elazığ city, while the sample was composed of 458 students. In the analysis of the data, independent groups t test, multiple regression and correlation analysis were used. The findings, when the relationships between the variables are examined, it was revealed that there was revealed a positive relationship among them STEM attitudes, science self-efficacy beliefs, and STEM career interest. A significant difference was found in favor of male students as a result of the comparison of levels interest towards STEM career, STEM attitudes and science self-efficacy perceptions of students according to gender variable. STEM attitudes (p<0,01) and science self-efficacy perceptions (p<0,01) variables were found to be a significant predictor of students’ STEM career interest scores.
