Abstract

The Syrian popular uprising in March 2011 and the subsequent internal conflict forced thousands of Syrian to flee towards the Turkish boarders. As a result of Turkey’s “Open Door Policy”, the number of Syrian refugees reached million in a short span of time. This placed great burden on the shoulders of the Turkish state in order to meet the needs of these refugees. In addition to meeting the basic need of accommodation and subsistence, meeting the education needs of children refugees emerged as one the most important priorities. In this regard, Turkey has followed a changing education policy for Syrian children.
