Abstract

The nature of gender relations varies according to the society, time, and place. Gender relations that change from culture to culture and over time are generally reproduced in social processes. In this context, attitudes and behaviors related to traffic are noteworthy in making sense of the nature of male-female role relations in the formation of gender that we consider important for our research. One of the most talked about comments and opinions on gender relations in social life is the phenomenon of female drivers in traffic. This research aims to research the stereotypes of female drivers in terms of the point of view of female and male drivers actively driving in traffic for at least one year in Gaziantep province. According to the findings of the study conducted in accordance with the qualitative research design, some stereotypes have been reached about female drivers. Among them, stereotypes such as “careful driver”, “prescriptive driver”, “slow driver”, “uneasy driver”, “timid driver”, and “panic driver” draw attention.
