The East Asian Miracle which was realized in 1970’s showhed the importance of religious or cultural influence. This social development experience proved the economic success of East Asian culture likewise Anglo-Saxon culture. According to the approach of economic sociology, cultural influences on economic behaviour should be analysed. According to this approach, culture is the primary variable, and economy is the second variable. According to economic sociology economies are embedded in culture, therefore culture influences the performance of economies. For example, Weberian researchers explain the East Asian Miracle by using Asian culture and basic value system. There are important researches which show that inefficient and less competitive cultures do not cause economic growth. Less competitive culturel norms cause inefficiency and higher production costs. Therefore, most of the societies to be more competitive and survive, they modernize their inefficient cultures. Within this context in this study, parallel to the views of Sabri Ülgener, the relation between culture and economy in the Turkish society is analysed.
