Abstract

Portfolio is a visual tool that summarizes the creative identity.The most striking point in a successful portfolio design is that the relationship between content and design is proportionately addressed, both of which are taken into consideration. At this point, the process of creating your own portfolio design can’t be a problem for a person experienced in graphic design discipline. Well, what basic issues should artists or designers who do not have a command of graphic design discipline pay attention to when designing their portfolios? This article aims to provide the answer to this question by presenting design mistakes that are frequently made in designing portfolios. In this respect, it is aimed to introduce both portfolio design and to determinate the basic elements that should be in portfolio design. In addition, a guide for the development of personal designs will be created with the results of the article. In the conclusion part, the basic design titles and functional approaches in portfolio design are summarized. Taking into account the detected mistakes, the general principles of Typography, Page Design and Graphic Production Techniques, which are necessary for portfolio design, are mentioned.
