Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of laboratory practices in mathematics and science on the relationship between real life situations and the attitudes towards science of the middle school 8th grade students. In the study, single group pretest-posttest experimental design was used. The study was carried out with a total of 30 students who have completed the 8th grade of public schools in Samsun Province. The daily life science form and the attitude scale against science were used as preliminary and final tests for the on-going 3 days practices in the 2017-2018 academic year. The obtained data were scored according to the categories of Maşeroğlu, then categorical scores were converted to linear scores by Ministep and dependent t-test was used. According to the results, there was no significant difference between the students' pre and post science test scores (p>0.05). This case may be due to the short application time.
