Abstract

The aim of this study that research the technical and philosophical relationship between Dada and Pop art. Against the definition of Neo-Dada which want to establish a connection between Pop Art and the Dada is to show that Dada's difference from Pop Art. For this purpose, the works of Pop Art and Dada artists were compared. At the same time, there are comments about the artists' own work and it has been determined what differences are their philosophically. Sources such as books, articles, letters, gallery labels have been searched. The outcome of the research, Dada and Pop Art's emergence dates. there are big differences between these two arts when determined the sociological, political and economic environment from which it emerges. The fact that Pop Art's attempt to establish an interest in Dada with the definition of Neo-Dada has been tied to the use of ready-made objects. Pop Art has used easily recognizable images as objects from consumer culture, such as trademarks, pop music, Hollywood films. The Dada art object is made up of waste materials, belonging to general use that not interested in branding and advertising. Pop Art artists, because they admire the consumption culture, are affirmative and reinforcing. In this respect, Dada and Pop Art came to the conclusion that they should not be mentioned together under the name of Neo-Dada.
