Descriptive survey model was used for this study. The universe of the study consisted of the individuals aged 18 and older who have been using the park and recreation areas in Ümraniye, İstanbul. 640 individuals from this universe participated in the study voluntarily. After the analysis of data gathered from 640 individuals it was found that some of the participants gave incomplete or incorrect answers, because of this fact the sample of the research consisted of 596 participants [68.5% (408) women, 31.5% (188) men]. Barriers to Participation in Recreation Areas (BPRA) scale for which the validity and reliability was demonstrated by Gümüş (2016) was used as the data collection tool. The obtained data was analyzed in SPSS software package. In consequences of the findings of the study, it was determined that there were significant differences between genders and age groups in the park and recreation areas aimed for physical activity utilization barriers of participants.},author={Fatih ARMUTÇU-- Cengiz TAŞKIN - Servet YILDIZ},year={2018},journal={The Journal of Academic Social Science}}
