Abstract

Purpose: In this paper, it is aimed to examine the methods used in the teaching of Qanun instruments and various methods of stringed instruments and to compare them. Material-Method: In this study, the published methods regarding to Qanun and some instruments were examined comparatively and analyzed with descriptive statistical methods. According to this, such as the foreword, contents, usage information of the book, general music knowledge, instrument information, exercises, sample works, index, list of sources used, CD/DVD given with the book and the number of pages of the books were examined and these were shown in tables as numbers and percentages. Findings: The methods started with the historical development and introduction of the instrument in general; general information about music, Turkish music and procedures were introduced; it was found that some of the techniques and styles were focused on. Methods had a content between 28-359 pages, it was detected that Turkish Music stringed pieces are frequently used in these methods; recently published methods are supported with audio material such as audio and / or image-containing material (CD / DVD). Results: It can be said that a significant portion of the methods examined did not have sufficient size and material for the learning of a musical instrument, also had significant pedagogical deficiencies. It can be suggested that for the usefulness of the methods to prepare new press or new methods according to the technique of the instrument and the development of the student in time; to have a richer content of exercises and repertoire; to pay attention to the suitability of all material to the structure of the instrument and to the play technique of the instrument.
