Abstract

As an indication our civilization, manuscripts have been given great importance for generations. For this reason, there are a lot of manuscripts in our country that have been continued both in their productions and in their collections. One of them the Akşitler Library located in Yatağan district of Denizli's Serinhisar. In Denizli Akşitler Library, in total there are 352 manuscripts. These manuscripts are from 15th to 18th century and generally about religious topics. In these pieces, tea-color and sizing paper are used, and they are mostly written in talik and nesih lines. Black ink and red (lal) ink are preferred in these pieces. Manuscripts do not have different qualifications in terms of paper ornamentations. However, in these manuscripts we chose as the subject of this study, different qualifications in terms of binding ornamentation are identified. The binding of manuscripts in Akşitler Library are made from leather, fabric and marbling. Black, brown and maroon leathers are widely used in these pieces.
