Abstract

This study has been prepared to determine the future constructs of higher education students on how geographical field studies will be in the future, how they should be, how assessment and evaluation will be conducted and how this will be reflected on the curriculum. It is aimed to provide a contribution for current geographical field studies by taking advantage of these constructs. Qualitative research method has been used to achieve that goal. The workgroup of the study consists of the graduate, post-graduate and doctoral students from the department of geography of a university in Istanbul. All the participants determined by purposeful sampling strategy have participated in at least one geographical tour organized by academic members of their university in previous years. A survey form of open-ended questions has been used in the study for collecting sufficiently saturated deep data. Opinions of two different experts have been asked to ensure content validity of that survey form. The questions mutually-agreed by these experts have been used. Data obtained from these questions have been subjected to descriptive analysis. Data collection process is described to improve the validity and reliability of the study. The statements of participants are included in the study through direct references. Future constructs of the participants on these practices have been analyzed by establishing categories. Recommendations have been given based on obtained results.
