Abstract

Ceramic art production which has a long and long tradition and strong historical background has a very important place in contemporary art representations in today’s world. Ceramic which brings together with a very strong historical value with its functionally in everyday life usage since the beginning to use ceramic as an everyday object, also carries an artistic value. Ceramic art has begun to have an effective place in the field of production of contemporary art by the virtue of the development of technology and the use of different artistic mediums together in artistic production. In this context Enric Mestre, who lives in the Valencian region of Spain, is a remarkable artist. Enric Mestre has brought a different dimension to the art of ceramics with its interesting and structuralist point of view on the architectural forms while producing art which we can able to observe the influence of the Spanish ceramic production technique. Establishing a strong connection between the existential concerns of traditional and contemporary world, Mestre is a name that influences contemporary ceramic art in the world and guides the development of contemporary ceramic art. This text, which will deal with the works of Mestre in the context of ceramic art in the field of contemporary art, will examine the boundaries of ceramic art and the contributions of Mestre which has been making to the art of ceramics. The relationship between Mestre's production style and technique, which are not only within the boundaries of ceramic art, will be examined with contemporary art concepts. With the help of the Enric Mestre’s contribution to ceramic art, this text will cover the concepts and orientations that dissolve the relation between traditional art and contemporary art in a common quota.
