DETERMINING FACTORS AFFECTING ON THE BREAD CONSUMPTION IN ERZURUM PROVINCE

Abstract

Individuals provide from bread a large portion of daily energy needs also in Erzurum province, as many cities in Turkey. The bread is seen as an indispensable food for individuals. Therefore, with 400 individuals were interviewed face to face to determine the level of bread consumption in Erzurum households. These individuals were selected according to their age group. Ratio of male and female was 50 percent in this study and the survey was conducted with individuals between 15-87 ages. As a result, the average price of loaf bread is 75 cents and per capita bread consumption is 0.77 units in households. Also 76.28 percent of consumption bread is loaf bread and the determination of factors that bread consumption effect was applied to Ordered Probit Model. Bread consumption quantities (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2) were taken as the dependent variable. Positive effect variables on the consumption of bread were loaves consumption of macaroni and loaf bread choice, and the consumption quantity of rice and individuals that students are negative effect variables.
