Abstract

Western art harbors significant separations in itself since the 20th Century and it is seen that these irredeemable separations added utterly different types and methods to art. Technological developments has reflected to all kinds of artistic production. Thus, the productions in the field of plastic arts outgrown the past and transformed into brand new forms. All these changes and discussions added art disciplines that have never been practiced to the art history. The Turkish modernism cut all its ties with the past and was welcomed in the state of a newly established government. Revolution with the target of the West rebuilt the institutions of the society, innovations in the field of art were also anticipated. However, in some periods this approach remained in a state of coming on the heels of the West which did not turn into authentic productions. When we come to the 60s and the 70s; the sharpness of the social isolation decreased, and the dynamic of the society caught up with the west. Although the political state was turbulent, the artists started mediating with the world. Therefore, in 60s and the 70s, it is seen that the artistic productions that are performed in Turkey became independent within themselves. When we say New Expressionism paintings, painting and traditional forms once again, the characterization of New Expressionism undoubtedly comes to mind. This research shall discuss the new expressionism style and its effects in Turkey.
