Abstract

Anatolian peninsula is one of the most dangerous places in the world in terms of seismicity. The severity of the earthquakes that occurred between the dates examined and as a consequence of this, the devastation showed variability. In this context, in the light of information which can be accessed, it has been observed that a large number of earthquakes occurred and these earthquakes left serious socio-economic effects on society during the period mentioned Indeed, the earthquakes occurred had caused problems such as casualties, shelter, nourishment and transport. After the earthquakes that occurred, that damage was detected and the grievances of the victims of the earthquake was eliminated and also the subject of the reconstruction of the areas where the disasters occurred had been the main issues that the Ottoman Empire was seriously busy with. To wrap up, in this study, it has been chronologically tried to focus on the occurrence of earthquakes that occurred in the Ottoman Empire within the period which was from The Tanzimat to The Constitutional Regime, their damage degrees and what were the effects on the public, the neighbourhood, the socio-economic structure of the region and the country of the earthquakes.
