Abstract

Following the declaration of independence, the Republic of Kazakhstan adopted a western approach to government and attempted to transform the society in this way. Alphabet revolution is not just a simple text change, but it has an important place in the history of language and culture in social life. Kazakhstan, which has changed its alphabet three times in the last 100 years, now wants to pass again to Latin alphabet. Kazakhstan wants to adapt itself to the principles of globalizing world on time. It is a fact that 80 per cent of the countries throughout the world use Latin alphabet and it is the Latin alphabet which is used in technology and science by the developed Western countries and which requires the time and the development of the country in every field. Kazakhstan’s transition from Cyrillic alphabet to Latin alphabet will be very beneficial in an environment that is globalizing in the context of relations and communication with other countries of the world, causing the different cultures to interact with each other as the world shrinks. Finally, the beginning of the transition from the Cyrillic alphabet to the Latin Alphabet is explained by President Nazarbayev on 20.02.2018. In the study, the current literature on the topic was examined and the periodicals were scanned. The political communication aimed at the transition of Kazakhstan from Cyrillic alphabet to Latin Alphabet was tried to be revealed in the research and examination, thus both the political aims of the subject and the instruments used in this purpose were examined. In this direction, the study aims to make a contribution to the history of politics and press.
