Abstract

Experimental literature is at odds with rhetorics and styles of the traditional literature. Murat Gulsoy, one of the most prominent authors in Turkish experimental literature, frequently surprises his readers with his unique style of writing. Through use of postmodernist fiction, Gulsoy questions the connection between reality and fiction using metafiction in this novel Baba, Oğul ve Kutsal Roman. The novel consists of sophisticated interwinding fictions. Gulsoy frequently calibrates readers awareness by reminding them that what they are reading is a fiction. Therefore, Baba, Oğul ve Kutsal Roman consists of many odd coincidences, surreal dreams, events with fantastic elements, and characters that are aware of their role in the novel. Consequently, time and location dimensions often become quite obscure. With all those aspects, Baba, Oğul ve Kutsal Roman is an important novel clearly portraying Gulsoy’s style. In this article, Baba, Oğul ve Kutsal Roman is examined under the titles of plot, content, language and narration.
