Abstract

Salutogenesis is a concept that focuses on the origins of health, in contrast to the pathogenesis that is the traditional concept study of the sources of disease. More broadly salutogenic approach is a health promoting source that encourages a person or society to feel physically and mentally healthy, with a good quality of life and sense of well-being. Today, when urbanization is rapidly increasing, people spend a large part of their lives in built environments. This leads to negative changes in our lives / lifestyles, and in addition brings various health problems such as cardiovascular diseases, cancers, diabetes, depression and dementia. In this study; The "salutogenic approach" developed as an answer to the pathogenesis was firstly addressed by general principles. In the next stage, how the design of the built environments was adapted to the process and the effects on the community health were evaluated within the scope of the case studies in the literature.
