Abstract

Proper eating habits acquired during the university period are very important for the protection of health in the adulthood period. This study was planned and conducted to determine the consumption status of milk and dairy products of university students. The questionnaire consists of consumption of milk and dairy products information. 282 males (47.9%) and 306 females (52.1%) university students between 19-24 years of age ( ±SD; 21.53 ± 1.42 years) participated in this study. 71.3% and 78.1% of male and female students stated that they consumed milk, respectively. The most common reason for drinking milk is healthy nutrition (55.2%) and the reason for not drinking is ‘don’t like’ (54.1%). 52.7% of the students consumed UHT milk and 45.5% consumed pasteurized milk. Male and female students had daily milk consumption amounts of 135.99±158.21 and 142.65±147.04 mL, respectively, while the most consumed dairy products were ayran in male students and yogurt in girl students.
