Abstract

It is of major importance that buildings are able to accommodate safe evacuation. Every manager and owner of a building is concerned about the safety of users living or working in the building. The collective structures are critical in terms of emergency evacuation. The fact that the schemes are usually large and the user density is high requires that the emergency measures be handled at a higher level. The effective evacuation period of the selimiye Mosque is analyzed in this study as a good instance for 16th century classical type Ottoman mosques. The selected mosque was modeled by emergency evacuation models with the "PathFinder" simulation program in various scenarios, and the safe evacuation period of the sample mosque was analyzed through these results of the different scenarios.
