Abstract

Being one of the most important representatives of contemporary French literature and putting emphasis on issues such as migration, refuge, immigration, homelessness, exile, identity problems in his works Moroccan Tahir Ben Jelloun draws attention to the reasons for pushing people to the immigration, the immigration problems and the identity crises that are experienced after the immigration in his novel, Go. The author sometimes challenges the issues and assumptions that are not regarded as problems in his novels in which he accounts for people who are torn from all their ethnic, national, religious and sexual identities and who seek to find universal human rights. In this study we look for the traces of Nazim Hikmet in the light of the theme of migration and exile in Tahar Ben Jelloun's Go, an attempt will be made to show how the writer has established an intertextuality with our great poet and his works, and how he has reflected his affection to him through the novel hero whose name is called as Nazim and also how both authors approach the topics of immigration and exile. Our aim in this study is not to compare the two writers or to show how Tahar Ben Jelloun is influenced by Nazim Hikmet, but rather to demonstrate how the works written in the direction of common goals are complementary and share common points in terms of reflecting universal values in their works. The references Tahar Ben Jelloun has made to Nazim Hikmet through free associations are important in order to reveal the social facts and common values that both authors and all human beings unite and to emphasize the polyphonicism in Tahar ben Jelloun's work.
