Abstract

Ibn Abu Zi'b is one of scholar among successors of successors of Companions of Prophet (tebe-i tabi'in). Heis of the prominent mıhaddith of his era. He is mentioned as one of three scholars who was accepted in Madina. In addition, he is counted as one of the fırst who classifıcate the hadiths. A work called Kitab al-Sunen is attributed to him. Aslo, lost of his narrations take place in hadith sources. At that period of time, hadiths used to be narrated and transmitted verbal and written. Some hadiths narrated by Ibn Abu Zi'b, transmitted by later hadiths sources with different chains of transmitters. When these hadiths are analysed, it is identified that only a few variations which do not differentiate the meaning are existed. Therefore, it might be interpreted that he narrated in accordance with the manner of conveying and performance of that time. This interpretation is supported by that later narrators and himself had their own books. In this article, we are going to touch on these subjects.
