Abstract

Mevlânâ Celâleddîn-i Rumî, or with his well-known title in the whole world, Rumi, was a great Sufi, thinker and poet still preserving his popularity today both in the Eastern world and in the Western world. His life and ideas have been transferred through generations for centuries, and has always kept its up-to-date status through Mevleviyeh, which is the cult that guides life in every aspect. Through time, Rumi has become one of the most popular cultural elements, and increased the interest in him in many fields. The reflection of this intense interest, which extended till performing meditation in Yoga Centers accompanied by the Poems and music of Rumi, showed itself through the novels written especially in 2000s. It is a well-known fact that fiction has a close relation with real life, and historical personages are transformed into fictional personages to attract the curiosity and interest of readers. For this reason, there is an increase in the number of the works in literature that include Rumi as the hero. In this study, the novel of Serdar Özkan, “Mevlana Çağırınca”, which is one of the abovementioned works of literature, will be analyzed over the protagonist of the novel, Rumi.
