Abstract

This study aims to determine the perception of environment of Sinop University students. This survey was conducted among 335 students as sample of 2839 students of Faculties of Science and Letters, Education and Theology. Survey is composed of mainly four parts; Nature Experience, Environmental Perception, Environmental Activities and Environmental Solutions. Data analysis shows that most of the students are women, lived in urban areas and came from lower middle class. Majority do not assume that nature is for the use of mankind while those favouring the superiority of human to nature are in the minority. Students generally are aware of environmental problems like pollution, limited natural resources and climate change. High number of joining environmental activities seriously drops in case of time consuming and regular activities. Students generally follow environmental news through media. Those following current events on social media are more interested in environmental news than other students.
