Abstract

The ear in classical Turkish poetry used by poets to reflect the worlds of emotions and thoughts, with the prevalence of both meaningful and metaphoric meanings. It is common for ear to simile to rose, “sadef”, violet, well or chalice. It is also striking that the poet who has included metaphorical sayings around ear in his poem, is in an effort to capture different sayings. Apart from its widespread use this paper will give examples of different analogies and utterances related to the ear used in classical Turkish poetry and try to reveal the meaning of the analogies created from the couplets.
