Abstract

Today, there is a need for detailed explanations for social changes in the world on the axis of village, rural and urban debates. All of the explanatory work on the nature of the village and the city are to distinguish them from each other. On the one side is what the rural area is and on the other side are the characteristics that distinguish it from the city. It is said that village and city are different from each other as settlement units. The fact that the rural area surrounds both units is often neglected and included either at the border of the city or at the border of the village. Therefore, when attention is paid to recent developments, it is obvious that village and city have similarities in terms of interaction on a global scale. In this study, it is also based on what is known as the rural area widely known in the world and the integration links and interactions between the village and the city as the settlement center in Turkey. In addition to this, we describe the conceptualization and explanations for the peripheralization of the villages or towns which we have defined as gray set.
