Abstract

In this study it is aimed to examine the academic articles published in Educational Sciences field in Turkey considering the number of citation and H index through the years of 1996-2015. The changes in the variables such as number of citable documents, number of citation and self-citation, number of citation and self-citation per document and level of H index over the years. This is a longitudinal study. The study was carried out on 28.756 documents which were published in educational science field between the years 1996 and 2015. The relevant data were obtained from SCImago Journal&Country Ranks” web site. Collected data were analysed via descriptive statistics and visualised with graphics. Results showed that considering the changes in the number of citable documents and number of citation, academic articles in Turkey are compatible with those in some developed countries. On the other hand, it is remarkable that the number of citation is decreasing year after year. It is engrossing that although the number of academic articles in educational sciences field in Turkey is increasing day by day, they are not efficient to solve some important educational problems.
