Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between some demographic characteristics of professional footballers and the frequency of their exposure to mobbing. 60 footballers, who were selected using random sampling from among professional footballers that play in the clubs affiliated with the Turkish Football Federation, voluntarily participated in the study. An information form was developed to determine necessary details and demographic characteristics of the footballers who participated in the study. In addition, "Mobbing for Athletes Inventory" was used to determine the frequency of exposure of footballers to mobbing. The SPSS statistical package program was used in the evaluation of the study data and the level of significance was taken as P <0.05. As a statistical method, frequency, percentage distributions, and one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) for independent samples were used. According to the demographic characteristics obtained in our study, it was found that professional footballers are not exposed to mobbing and statistical analyzes do not show any significant difference when examined in terms of age, educational level, sports year and team category.
