Arif Nihat Asya came to Cyprus on 24 November 1959 as a literature teacher and stayed in the island until 31 August 1961. During his stay in the island he tried to raise young people as literature teachers and paid effort for the development of Cypriot Turkish literature. Arif Nihat Asya felt a great love for Cyprus and Cypriot Turks and tried to express this love in his poems.
