Abstract

In this article, Armenians politics of Russia during the period of Republic of Turkey and the effects of Russian-Armenian politics on the Turkish- Armenian relations have been evaluated. Russia which considers Turks as its arch rival historically endeavored to set up an Armenian buffer zone between Russia and the Turks with the security requirements. Russia carried on this politics during the republic period of Turkey and started to transfer Turkish soil to Soviet Armenia since the annexation of Zengazur. During the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) period and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) period Armenia has become the most important ally of Russia which considers Armenia as a geopolitical and strategical instrument to reach its goals in Caucasia. On the other hand Armenia reiterated its alliance with Russia by allocating military bases and signing Defense Cooperation Agreement.
