Abstract

Adorno is a thinker who approaches the world of music and art with a critical attitude. Especially in his work on 20th century music, he expressed with a dialectical analysis of the possibility of new and progressive music. This idea, which he refers to as "Dialectical Music", refers to a negative music which is consistent with its aesthetic theory and negative dialectic. This music, for example, has represented representatives of 20th century modern music. According to Adorno, the founder of modern music and atonal, twelve-tone system Arnold Schoenberg and his students are composers who have worked on dialectical music. Adorno structured his dialectical musical thought by examining the works of composers such as Schoenberg, Alban Berg and Anton Webern. In this way, he stated the relation between the structure of their musics and sociality and discussed the possibility of a dialectical, new and progressive music.
