Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of entrepreneurial personality traits on foreign trade entrepreneurship tendencies. In this context, this research will be carried out by examining university students with potential foreign trade entrepreneurial skills. Although there are many studies in the literature about entrepreneurial personality traits and entrepreneurship tendencies of potential entrepreneurial university students, the number of studies on potential foreign trade entrepreneurship is rather limited. It is thought that the researcher will make an important contribution both to the literature and to the researchers and practitioners working on this field. The mainstream of this research, which is based on the research approach designed according to the quantitative research methodology, is the students of the international trade department who are studying at undergraduate level in a public university. The sample of the study was determined using the convenience sampling method and the data of the researcher were collected through face-to-face surveys from 152 participants who agreed to participate in the survey. Data were analyzed by SPSS 21.0 statistical analysis program. Descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analyzes were used in the study, and the findings were presented through the tables. The results of the research show that from the entrepreneurial personality traits; risk taking (t=2.694; p=0.021), being innovative (t=2.447; p=0.016), seeing opportunities (t=2.706; p=0.008) and emotional intelligence (t=3.241, p= 0.001), have a statistically significant effect on foreign trade entrepreneurship tendency (p <0.05); while self-confidence (t=0.973; p=0.332) has no statistically significant effect on foreign trade entrepreneurship tendency (p> 0.05).
