Abstract

The aim of this study is investigating to the effects of movement education for 8 weeks to motor performances on children who are 4-6 years old and attend pre-school education institutions. The subjects in the investigating are randomly selected 240 students who attend 8 different pre-school education institutions that depended on “the National Education Ministry” and “the Society for the Protection of Children” in İzmir and they have joined this investigation. The subjects are tumbled to two groups such as the first group which enforced movement education (experiment group n=120) and the second group which hasn’t enforced movement education (control group n=120). In this study, the motor performance test protocol which are developed in 1980 by Morris, Atwater, Williams and Wilmore was enforced in order to measure the motor performances of pre-school children for data collection method. Test protocol was composed 6 components such like quickness, standings broad jumps, balance on one leg, throwing a tennis ball, sprint and catching. All gathered data were analyzed by “the SPSS for Windows 10,0” (paired-samples “t” test for between first test and last test)(Independent-samples “t” test for differences between experiment group and control group). In comparing pre-test values and post-test values of each of these groups, it was found a significant variety between all values of first group (p<0,05). In second group, it was also statistically found a significant variety between performance values except performance of throwing a tennis ball (p<0,05). In comparing between first test of each of these groups, it wasn’t found a significant variety in level of (p>0,05). Between last test of each of these groups, it was found a significant variety in favor of experiment group in level of (p<0,05). In conclusion, the movement education for 8 weeks has positively redoubled motor performances of children who are 4-6 years old.
