Abstract

Increasing competition, decreasing market shares, increasing costs, and the recent trend of globalization in the business environment have forced companies to deal with important issues. Companies tend to introduce organizational changes and other organizational implementations in order to survive. However, these implementations have removed the job security of employees, and have affected employees, companies, and society in many different ways as well. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the relationship between job insecurity and life satisfaction in the context of private healthcare employees. The study was performed between August 2017 and September 2017 in the cities of Istanbul, Duzce, and Samsun, and the data were collected from employees working in private healthcare organizations operating in these cities. Survey methogolody was used to collect data, and 135 questionnaire forms in total were collected. According to the statistical analyses performed, it was seen that there is a statistically significant medium negative correlation between job insecurity and life satisfaction. Moreover, it was also found that job insecurity affects life satisfaction in a negative way as well. When the effects of job insecurity on employees, healthcare organizations, and society are taken into account, it is highly recommended that healthcare organizations’ managers should take certain steps and initiate numerous implications in order to prevent the negative outcomes of job insecurity.
