With the Lisbon Strategy, which included better employment policies and social inclusion, the goal was to implement sustainable growth for the Union. Europe 2020 Strategy, which succeeded Lisbon Strategy, is based upon goals that include issues like education, R&D, social inclusion, energy and climate all of which also support each other; as well as employment; to the means that contain the Union’s smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth. Ensuring high employment and productivity through implementing economic and social adaptation is among the main goals. Lisbon and Europe 2020 Strategies, each of which determine especially the next decades of European Union’s economic and social policies, are also significant to demonstrate the sort of attitude the Union adopts in the area of gender equality policies. Because gender equality is a prerequisite of the Union in order for it to reach its goals in sustainable growth, competitiveness, employment and its struggle against social exclusion. Supporting women’s employment target of 75% with social inclusion policies, the member states are expected to carry out programmes suitable for this target. The aim of this paper is to discuss which aims, methods and policies to ensure gender equality are included in the targets to increase women’s employment that are goals of both Lisbon Strategy and Europe 2020 Strategy. The regulations of the sample states chosen from the members of the Union and of candidate Turkey regarding the gender equality policies will be studied within this framework.},author={Berrin OKTAY YILMAZ},year={2017},journal={The Journal of Academic Social Science}}
