Abstract

Tariqas taking a part in societies as the instutionalized form of the sufistic belief as of Hijri V. Century undertook religious disclosure and guidance mission and through the history they showed up in various Muslim societies in different ways. At this point, the word Sect meaning “way” can be understood as the way of pleasure, joy, knowledge, love and attraction that leads subjects to the God. In general, the word “way” in Arabic language means the way that must be followed to reach the God. From another point of view, sufism schools which were built to reach God in sufistic ways also bring to the mind the word Sect. As the instutionalized and organised form of sufistic beliefs and views around a Sheikh, the sect represents an organisation established to spread these beliefs and views and to educate students in these respects. In this study, we mention the common features of sects showing up in a systematic way in Islamic history of thought for the first time as of Hijri II. Century and being popular after the systematization of Sufism. Besides, we aim to spread these views of Sects defended by a Sheikh and his followers among the society and in this process we mention our detections about the content and quality of the related education and training activities, the adopted rules, the way of their applications, the finance of these organizations and the related resources from the literature review that we carried out for the study.
