Abstract

River valleys are the archives which respond fastly tothe control factors like as climatic changes, sea level changes and tectonism. Therefore the valleys (especially river terraces) are researched depthy, dealing with both the geomorphological evolution and tectonic studies. This study aims to determine the effects of the local tectonism and the uplift on the Göksu River valley (Mut and Silifke). For this aim we used various cartographic data like as maps, aerial photos and evaluated the results of the field studies, together with forming the cross sections and longitudinal profils of the valley. Additionally for to reveal the incision rate in the Göksu River valley and thus to explain the effective uplift rate we applied the OSL daiting method on the deposit of the youngest terrace (T16). Accordingly, Göksu River valley was effected by local tectonism (faults) in terms of the drainage
