Abstract

Between 11th and 12th centuries were regarded as stagnant periods in terms of ‎music theory. However, recent studies show that this period was not stagnant as it is ‎considered. The encyclopedic work of Hasan b. Ahmet b. Ali el-Katib , Kemâlü ‎Edebi’l-Ğınâ, which estimated that written in the end of the 10th century or in the ‎beginning of the 11th century, has an important role in understanding the musical ‎structure of its time and following times. In this study, after giving information about ‎the author and the work, the author’s views on music and musicians will be discussed ‎in particular because of the wide and rich content of the work.‎
