Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the need for school social services in a secondary school in disadvantaged areas. In the background of the work, there is a pilot project designed to create a model for the implementation of the "school social service" system in our country. The population of the study is located a secondary school of 1500 which is recommended by a National Education Directorate in a country of Istanbul; The study sample is 359 students in the 7th grade level, who are said to have the most problems by their school administrators. The data of the study were collected through a family information survey developed by the researchers and implemented during the visit by the students during the project. Survey data analyzed by descriptive analysis show that school social service should be initiated urgently in our country especially in disadvantaged regions.
