Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between the attitudes of the prospective class teachers towards the teaching profession and the qualifications of primary school teachers. A total of 263 prospective class teachers, including 210 (79.8%) female and 53 (20.2%) male students studying at Uludag University Faculty of Education constitute the sample group. In the research, Personal Information Form was used in order to obtain demographic information of the students, "Attitude Scale Towards Teaching Profession" developed by Cetin (2006) was used in order to scale their attitude towards teaching profession and "Teacher Proficiency Scale" developed by Seker, Deniz and Gorgen (2004) was used in order to evaluate the proficiency of primary school teachers. As a result of the findings obtained from the research, the attitudes towards teaching profession of the prospective class teachers and the proficiencies of their primary school teachers do not differ according to their gender, class levels, allocation units of their primary schools and gender of primary school teachers. Also, in the light of the research results, no significant relation between the attitudes towards teaching profession of the prospective class teachers and the proficiencies of their primary school teachers was determined.
