Abstract

Due to lack of savings and investment to choose the means of satisfying the needs of the capital from external sources in developing countries. Especially together with the globalization, the countries that lack of capital aims to attract foreign capital inflows to countries taking advantage of foreign savings. During the stage that foreign direct investors attract to the country, some economic, social, political, and institutional factors play a role. In this study, it was examined economic, social and political determinants of foreign direct investments at the period 1980-2013 for Turkey.In the period discussed, it concluded that economic growth and social determinants has a positive effect on foreign direct investments, while the political factors has a negative impact. At the same time, the coefficient of the dummy variable for election year is positive and statistically significant.
