Abstract

Qualified financial information required by banks which is one of the most important player in the financial system, can be generated by the accounting system. That’s why it is important subject that banking sector’s expectation from the accounting education. In this research, a survey has been administered to the commercial bank employees in Mersin province in order to reveal the expectancies of bank employees from accounting education. According the result the courses of “Bank and Insurance Accounting “, “Financial Statement Analysis “, “General Accounting” and “Terminal Accounting Transactions” are more important for banking sector. In addition the results of the survey show that accounting education should include more practical information and the courses should support by professional bankers and members of a profession as a trainer for more effitional acounting education.
