Abstract

This research has been carried out to determine whether there is a relationship between teacher candidates' social value perceptions and their attitudes towards values education. Also, whether the variables of the teacher candidates’ education program, grade and the residential area cause a distinction in their attitudes towards values education are the other objectives of the research. The sampling group consists of 369 teacher candidates studying at Uludağ University, 165 of them are from pre-school teaching and 204 of them are from primary school teaching. Personal information form, perception scale for social values, and values education attitude scale have been used as data collection tools in the research. The collected data have been analyzed by using descriptive statistical methods. At the end of the research, it has been determined that there is a significant positive relationship between the participating teacher candidates’ social value perceptions and their attitudes towards values education.
