Abstract

Today more and more demand for airline create with an intense air traffic. Due to the increase in air traffic, new airports have been built and existing airports have been grown. Airports is the intersection of air traffic and also is indicative of the economic and social development of societies. Airports affect a society economically and socially, as well as environmentally and regionally and globally. Even though the environmental impact of airports is thought to be minimal, an increase in air traffic indicates that this effect will be greater in the next years. In particular, the decreasing of environmental impacts suggests that the construction of airports should be well planned and that the management of airports is important. In this study, noise, air pollution, water pollution, effects on wild life, wastes, public health, construction works, land use which were the environmental effects of airports were examined under eight headings. The suggestions of solution were developed to eliminate or reduce of environmental impacts of airports.
