Abstract

Present study focuses on examining factord that related to eating disorders, which are important sociocultural and health related problems. It has recently been argued that marketing messages such as television and magazine advertisements may also be effective in describing eating disorders, as well as personel characteristics. However, in the local marketing literature there is no research that examines the problem from this point of view. In the study, researches about the problem, types, causes and outcomes of eating disorders are investigated. Then, to test of main variables related to eating disorders, the primary data are collected by the questionnaire which is collected by convenience sampling method in Kirikkale and the obtained data are analyzed by statistical package program and the results are interpreted. In this context, the relationships among the dimensions of eating disorders and demographic characteristic, “social comparison tendency”, “food-fat engagement”, “risk perception about obesity”, “tendency to buy product in advertising”, “dissatisfaction in appearence”, “impulsivity” and “anxiety disorder” are examined. Finally, research findings are interpreted and proposals are made for businesses and researches.
