Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between total health expenditure growth rate and inflation rate and to analyze the impact of health expenditures on inflation in Turkey. In the study, total health expenditure data obtained from Turkish Statistical Institute Health Expenditure Statistics 2016 and consumer price index (2003 = 100) major group and sub-groups (2003-2016) data were used. In order to determine the relationship between total health expenditure growth rate and general inflation rate Pearson Correlation Analysis and Regression Analysis have been conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics 22. According to the results, a positive relationship (58.9%) between total health expenditure growth rate and inflation rate has been found (p=0,044). Also results show that total health expenditure growth rate has a significant affect on the inflation rate (F=5,301; p=0,044) in Turkey.
