Abstract

This study aims to examine how private resources are used in the financing of education. A discussion has been made by making comparisons with public resources, with the determination of how much private resources are used. This research is designed as a descriptive study. In this study, the perspectives of non-public sources, i.e. all other private sources, in the financing of education were examined by reviewing the related literature. Opinions on the private sector are presented in the financing of education as well as they are sometimes related to public sources. While the private sources in education are mentioned, the necessity of these resources and researches that critically approach the private sources in education are also mentioned. Neoliberal education policies have led education into becoming an “investment property” paid by the people, which was regarded as a right and public service in the past. This situation has increased the tendency towards the private resources in education and education has become marketable.
